As part of the Seminar Series organized by the Perception and Politics Lab (PnP Lab) of the Department of Psychology at Abdullah Gül University, our lab member Seher Karasu delivered a presentation entitled “Collective Action in the Grip of Futurelessness".
In this online seminar, Karasu shared her insights on the psychological barriers to social transformation, discussing why modern societies can be reluctant to engage in collective action despite pressing social, economic, and ecological issues. The presentation focused particularly on the "perception of a lack of future" and how losing a shared vision weakens individual motivation. Drawing from a social and political psychology perspective, she discussed the connections between hopelessness and collective action, arguing that reviving the motivation for social change is possible by rethinking and reimagining our future.
As the AGU PnP Lab, we are delighted to have our members share their research and would like to thank Seher Karasu for this thought-provoking seminar and her contributions to our series.
